Hi, I'm Tamara!
Midlife coach & keynote speaker

I work with organisations and people in midlife across Belgium, Europe and beyond. I help them navigate the part of life and career we don’t talk about enough: the middle.

My background

I spent 25 years in international brand strategy and research. I’ve built several businesses, led teams, co-founded an agency and presented in boardrooms across multiple countries. I’ve lived and worked in Barcelona, London and Sydney, and spent two decades operating across cultures and time zones.

That kind of career teaches you things a classroom doesn’t: how to read a room, how to make decisions with incomplete information, how to build credibility quickly with people who don’t know you yet. And how to adapt -fast- when the ground shifts under you.

At 44, the ground shifted under me.

I didn’t know what I wanted. I just knew it wasn’t what I had.

So I did what apparently comes naturally to me under pressure: I went back to study. First in change management, then in coaching, then in ikigai philosophy. My stress response, it turns out, is collecting diplomas.

What I found on the other side of that process wasn’t just a new career. It was a clearer understanding of something I’d been watching happen to people around me for years. They were capable, experienced professionals who had grown and changed while their roles, their environments and the expectations placed on them had stayed exactly the same.

I’d lived it myself. Now I help others work through it.

How I work

Tamara Cortoos. midlife coach

I’ve been a mentor, a coach, a trainer and a consultant throughout my career. Now I’m all of those things at once, just with a much clearer focus on what midlife actually asks of people and what it takes to respond to it well.

I’m a good listener and a useful sounding board. My role is to hold up a mirror, ask sharp questions and stay curious about the things you’re not quite ready to say yet.

I find the line between empathy and a friendly push. I don’t make things easy. Not because I enjoy discomfort, but because a ‘nice chat’ rarely gives you what you need: a clear view of your situation, your options and your future.

I’m also genuinely creative. I like thinking through possible directions and solutions with the people I work with.  As a coach, I don’t tell you what to do. My job is to explore what’s actually possible given who you are and the life or career you’ve built.

Don’t expect any jargon or frameworks for the sake of frameworks. Just direct questions, honest observations and practical next steps. My work is structured: we agree on a goal, we work toward it, and you leave each session with something concrete to do before the next one.

I’m direct. I don’t do vague. We say things as they are, and then we work with that.

Who I work with

I work with individuals in their 40s and 50s. They come to me for different reasons. Sometimes it’s the job, other times they just can’t see a way forward. Others have questions around who they are right now or what the point of it all is. Some people struggle with a big transition such as a divorce, a loss of some kind or a health issue. So the entry point varies, but the underlying question is usually the same: who am I at this very point in my life, and what do I actually want from here?

I also work with organisations across Belgium and Europe that want to understand why their most experienced people are starting to disengage and what to do about it before it becomes a problem they’re explaining to the board.

My work with organisations takes the form of keynotesworkshopsemployee research and strategic coaching for senior leaders.
