Five To Thrive
A strategy for midlife and beyond
As a keynote speaker on longevity and career design, I work with leadership conferences and HR events across Belgium and Europe who want to give this part of life and career the attention it actually deserves.
We were never taught how to think about this part of life.
You probably had a careers adviser at school, but almost nobody has sat down with anyone to plan their life from 40 onwards. There’s no map for it. Not from school, not from your employer, not really from anywhere.
That’s what this keynote is for.
Five To Thrive
Most of us are still living by a three-stage idea of life: school, then work, then retirement. That model made sense when it was built, but it doesn’t anymore.
People are healthier, more capable and more ambitious at 50 than any previous generation, and far less willing to spend the second half of their working life just going through the motions.
But wanting more in life isn’t the same as knowing how to get there.
Careers now stretch across decades longer than they used to, and the years between “established career” and “old age” have no script attached to them at all.
This keynote is that script. It introduces five elements, each backed by research, that bring clarity and direction to the second half of a career and a life.
The Five to Thrive framework covers values, purpose, identity, contribution and curiosity. Together, they shape how well someone navigates the second half of their working life — and how long they stay genuinely engaged in it.
This keynote isn’t merely ‘inspirational’. It’s strategic.
Goals of this keynote
To give midlifers a clear, research-backed way to think about the second half of their life and career and to give organisations a way to actively support that, instead of leaving people to figure it out alone.
People don’t leave with a big plan. They leave with one specific question about their own life, and somewhere to start.
